Call out: Zumba Teachers!!
Are you a Zumba teacher? Want to promote your work in a fun way? Read this!
I’m Tatiana Woolley a Zumba teacher and the director of Nottingham Carnival’s Brazilian troupe. I’m inviting you to take part in my Carnival project this year which will combine Zumba and Brazilian street carnival. This project will give you ready-made new routines, inspiration for new moves and the opportunity for you and your students to parade in Nottingham Carnival. In this project I am going to try and replicate a Brazilian street carnival in Nottingham!
We will teach you between 6-8 authentic Brazilian Carnival routines fro FREE. You will learn from two Brazilian born dance teachers, Gil Santos and myself. The idea is that you will pass these routines on to your students in your classes in time for Nottingham carnival in August 2016. You and your students will then parade with us in the Carnival.
Zumba Teacher requirements.
You’ll need to attend our free rehearsal weekend on 2/3 July 2016 where Gil and I will teach you the choreographies. Obviously, we hope you will also be there on the day to lead your students as we parade in Nottingham. All teachers who parade will receive a free carnival t-shirt. Student requirements. Students who would like to parade will need to learn the choreographies. They will also need to buy a t-shirt (price TBC but no more than £10 each). The t-shirts monies is to help us raise funds for our costumes. Those who do not wish to parade can simply participate in your classes as usual. The choreographies will work as Zumba routines.
Stage and Costumes.
The best students and all teachers will have the opportunity to perform on stage at the carnival. Stage dancers will wear carnival costumes, not t-shirts, but will have to attend additional rehearsals. Nottingham Carnival attracts over 20.000 people every year and it a hell of a lot of fun!!!
Here is some of the feedback we had last year:
“Awesome, wonderful feeling to be involved with talented and creative people. I enjoyed the rehearsal, the choreography was amazing and energetic, it kept my brain and muscular cells active. I love the community spirit”, Female participant 2015, age 55.
“Great costumes and theme, fantastic choreography to work with and a lovely bunch of people. Top”, Male participant 2015, age 37.
“Even though we came from separate groups; it felt from the first meeting that all were welcome and encouraged to be involved. Whether making costume, dancing, drumming or capoeira; there was an opportunity to contribute to the group and a sense of community.” Male participant 2015, age 40.
It doesn’t matter if you have a small or large class, we want everyone involved! So, if you are interested, please get in touch:
